A tiny piece of paper can mean so much!!

Of personal importance, I felt it vital to relate a recent incident. Two weeks ago, Steve and I were hurrying from Provo to the Jordan River Temple to enjoy a peaceful, much needed temple session. As I handed my temple recommend to the temple worker, he looked at me and quietly uttered, pointing his finger in an opposite direction, "Sister, please step aside and follow me!" My heart sank and my life flew before my eyes. I wondered what he could want!! He stated that my temple recommend had expired, and that I couldn't enter the temple until it had been renewed! I explained that my husband and myself are full-time missionaries, we are fully active, and that my Bishop and Stake President were only a phone call away, etc., but he only shook his head and said, "Sorry." What a wakeup call!!

I mistakingly believed that one year ago when our Bishop and Stake President interviewed us individually before replacing our temple recommends for the 'new' one with the bar codes, that it was 'good' for another two years!! Wrong!! How empty and saddened I felt to be 'left out' of the temple!! Thanks to a contientious member of the Bishopric on that same Tuesday night and a very kind Stake President Sohm, my recommend was renewed and I was "good to go!" I haven't been without a temple recommend for 45 years, and although it only lasted for a few hours, I felt empty, abandoned and forelorn. How I love the temple and performing work for our kindred dead.
