Life Can't Get Much Better Than This!"

What a glorious, memorable experience for international missionaries (and coordinators who act as tour guides) each Friday as they have the opportunity to visit Temple Square sites in downtown Salt Lake City. These missionaries have never set foot previously on Temple Square nor experienced first-hand the "Mountain of the Lord" nor all the sites only formerly viewed in church magazines and periodicals!! Week after week, they exclaim how grateful they are for the sacrifices made by the pioneers, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young who forged the way for the establishement of the church in this beautiful valley.
Friday, May 23, as we were returning on the bus to the MTC, we asked each missionary to comment, in the portable microphone, of any special reflections or expressions of gratitude. What a resounding response we heard, often in broken English, of each of their love and appreciation for this special opportunity. Then, quite unexpectedly, several of the missionaries asked if we could sing; of course, this was my personal desire and wish (some weeks missionaries just want to sleep on the return trip). Then, the Samoans and Togans led the way (they usually have the fullest and most spontaneous voices) by belting out precious songs of the Restoration--all joined in and it was an incredibly spiritual experience. I leaned over to Elder Cook (who doesn't sign but in tears) and said, "It can't get much better than this!" Our hearts were filled to overflowing and although our feet were tired, and we were a little tired from arising at 4:30 AM to arrive at the MTC by 6:45AM, it was well worth the sleep deprivation. Another miraculous day at the MTC with our beloved missionaries!!
