New First Presidency of the Church, February 4, 2008

What a glorious day for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. No vying, no policizing, no campaigning or jockeying for position--Heavenly Father has chosen His annointed Prophet, Seer and Revelator to lead His church in these last days. President Thomas B, Monson is President with Henry B. Eyring as First Counselor and Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf as Second Counselor. Pres. Monson previously served as President Hinckley's First Counselor and Elder Eyring as President Hinckley's Second Counselor.

Elder Uchtdorf, born in Czech Republic but raised in Germany, has only served in the Quorum of the Twelve for less than three years and was a former chief pilot and administrator for Lufthasa German Airlines. He is the sixth counselor born outside the United States.

Elder Eyring stands as a man of 'great learning' who stated that "there never was a man that I couldn't learn something from." He intensely values learning. Some of his former credentials include a professor at Stanford University, President of Ricks-Idaho College, Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric and then Quorum of the Seventy before being sustained in 1995 in the Quorum of the Twelve.

How thrilled we are to be led by such righteous men whose belief is that "we are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, as the Son of the living God, who is generous in every way."
