A Personal Heartbreak...

Last Wednesday, I had the privilege of escorting and processing a lovely young sister missionary from Germany who spoke limited English but was exited about perfecting her English skills as she was assigned to labor in the Utah Provo Mission. I visited with her each day, gave my daily hugs and encouragement and felt blessed to assist in procuring German interpreters for her in all her meetings, so she could feel the Spirit completely. Easily bonded with, I felt a special affinity toward her. Later Sunday evening, after the Fireside, I was told that she wanted to return home and not complete her mission. I visited with her for a few minutes after the Fireside with Apostle Perry, with the assistance of a German interpreter, and he relayed to me that she "felt good" about her decision to return home. President Gary Heaton, First Counselor in her District Presidency, worked and worked with her (not a worthiness problem), but to no avail. As the only German sister in the MTC at that time, I'll never know nor understand why she left--loneliness? Fear of not being able to learn the language? Money strain on her family? Boyfriend issue? She is gone, back to her family in Germany, never to bless the lives of families/individuals in the Utah Provo Mission. Sadness and regret fill my heart; however, I pray she will find the peace and joy feels reassured of having.
