Pre-Mission Trip to David and Sarah's (Portage, Michigan)

Home one day from New York, we repacked and headed to Portage, Michigan, via Detroit to visit David and Sarah and Savannah, Sadie and Christina on Thursday, October 25. True to David's photography passion, he immediately insisted we pose for formal portraits in his indoor and outdoor 'studio.' Attached find his handiwork. He's becoming quite a pro!!

Cool, crisp autumn weather made apple-picking in
Michigan lots of fun, only to be topped by cooking and
consuming a hot, apple crisp the next day and a quick
trip to Stein Mart!!

Halloween was celebrated with a "Truck or Treat" and chili
cook-off held at church. David and Steve worked half a day
creating their entry, only to have someone remove their pot
of chili from the entry table before it was judged.! They are
still convinced theirs was a winner(of course, it had plenty
of fresh garlic, Louisiana hot sauce, and TLC) because it was the
first chili gone!!

Our last day we visited the famous Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI,
famous site of Henry Ford's recreated/authentic village of 17th, 18th and 19th century homes of famous people. What an education amidst such a beautiful setting. All 7 of us slept ???!?? until 4:00 a.m. (2:00 a.m. SLC time) in a single motel room, at which time David took us to the airport to catch our flight home. Special memories were shared by all, never to be forgotten.

What a beautiful family they are and how thrilled to share in their great family spirit.
