Our First MTC Devotional- October 6

Elder Richard Edgeley, counselor in the Presiding Bishopric spoke tonight to all senior and young missionaries in the regularly scheduled Tuesday evening Devotional held in the gymnasium. The Spirit was so strong as we warmed up vocally with "Behold A Royal Army" and "Called to Serve." All I could think is 'how proud the mothers would be of their missionaries?'

Elder Edgeley called himself 'the Nerd from Preston, ID.'; he said that isn't so bad when you consider that Napoleon Dynamite is also a Nerd from Preston,ID. Quite humorous. (I think I'm fast becoming the "Nerd from the MTC." The Spirit is so strong there!!)

Powerful thoughts he reminded us of...
(1) We (set-apart missionaries) are empowered and we are on Christ's errand. We should always remember who we are and who we represent.
(2) The two great messages of the gospel are: Jesus is the Christ and the Church has been restored.
(3) The worth of souls is great! D&C 18
(4) Work is the engine that brings success
(5) Quoted Elder Faust: faith is power; work is the price; love is the source and Christ is the reason! AMEN.

QUESTION? What is the bright blue drink the missionaries devour with their meals? If only their mothers knew what they were consuming and that sugar cereals seem to replace their well-balanced meals quite often! I won't tell ???!??!?

**We loved participating in the TRC (Training Resource Center) and playing "investigator" to several missionary companions whose first discussion was presented to Steve and me. Bless their hearts!! Several were excellent; however, one shy, reticent missionary stated (when discussing the Plan of Salvation) that 'after Jesus died, He went to heaven, God forgave him and then he was resurrected!! (We sat stunned but said nothing). Needless to say, this sweet missionary will continue to study, pray and grow in his understanding of the gospel. He ended this discussion with a sweet, simple testimony, however, which seemed to wipe away his lack of knowledge. No pain, no gain. I'm impressed that most missionaries seem so earnest and are working very hard to be the best they can be. God bless them.
