Another miraculous conversion story...November 9, 2007
Three elders walked into our International Office yesterday, one of whom needed to telephone home (within one week of arriving at the MTC, all international missionaries are given the privilege of telephoning home to report their safe arrival). While waiting for the missionary to complete his call, Elder Zambo from France and I began discussing his conversion story. He immediately asked me if we had a map in the office, so we could show me his home--we walked to an adjoining room where he showed me the country in Africa where he came from (Cameroon?? Never heard of it--next to Nigeria on the Ivory Coast). As the youngest of eight children, when he was eight years old, his parents sent him to live with his aunt and cousin in France, so that he might have a better opportunity for education and future employment so that he might help support his family back home one day. When he was nine years old and living in France, the missionaries knocked on his aunt's door and she allowed them to teach them the gospel because she had read about the Mormons in her school textbook (must have been positive information). Elder Zambo, his aunt and cousin eventually joined the church, although the aunt and cousin eventually fell away because of "not living the covenants," he related. He was forced to leave their home and moved to another part of France to earn money to support himself on his mission. He had only been on his mission 3 weeks and his English was excellent! What a powerful young man who is determined to live the gospel faithfully and fully. His is headed to Canada Quebec and will be a great instrument in the hand of the Lord in furthering His message.
